报告摘要：In this talk, I will first give an overview of the volume conjecture for the Reshetikhin-Turaev and the Turaev-Viro invariants posed by Qingtao Chen and myself. Then I will present a recent joint work with Ka Ho Wong where we prove the conjecture for all hyperbolic 3-manifolds obtained by doing a rational surgery along the Figure-8 knot. If time permits，some applications to the quantum representations of the mapping class group will be mentioned.
